Nathan Goellrich

Physical activity is critical to the development and maintenance of good health. The goal of physical education is to develop physically educated individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.

 

A physically educated person:

  1. Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
  2. Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
  3. Participates regularly in physical activity.
  4. Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
  5. Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.
  6.  Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction.

The class is designed for each student to

(1) successfully perform a variety of skills which he/she can use in active recreation both during the school year and adult life.

(2) gain knowledge of the rules and playing technique of a variety of activities, to be an active participant or an appreciative spectator.

(3) Increase awareness and personal level of PHYSICAL FITNESS of each student.

(4) learn self-control, responsibility, ability to lead and follow, and attitudes of cooperation.
