HOSA

HOSA stands for Health Occupation Students of America.  HOSA is an organization specially designed for future health professionals.  The purpose of HOSA is to develop leadership and technical skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition.  HOSA at Estancia High School is only offered to students in the Estancia Medical Pathway and allows them to choose a medical category to compete in at the state level.  State competitions are four days in length and held in either Sacramento or Anaheim.  Students compete in their selected category such as medical terminology, medical law & ethics, nutrition, and pharmacology.  Competitions include several rounds and consist of an online exam and practical skills. If students successfully complete and pass all aspects of testing, they will be eligible for award recognition that could consist of monetary and/or scholarship rewards.

HOSA meetings are held during lunch in Room 205

Students who participate in HOSA and attend the State Leadership Conference can use their hours towards earning the CTE Medallion.  Students who hold an officer position in HOSA are awarded a cord at graduation.  HOSA participation can also be used towards the competition of the Senior Project at Estancia High School.
