High school students are getting a head start on careers in education through the district's new Education Career Jumpstart program.
Mandatory safety education is required for everyone. High school and middle school students must complete online CHP safety training and pass a quiz using their NMUSD login, while elementary students will participate in age-appropriate "Walk ‘N Rollers" training during the school day.

The 2026 spring athletic season in Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) featured CIF championships, league titles, record-breaking performances, and outstanding individual achievements. The Board of Education recently recognized Lead Technology Support Technician Sunny Dang and Estancia High School Custodian Martin Rangel Lopez as its 2026 Classified School Employees of the Year.
The district has created Board Policy (BP) 5142.04 - Bicycles and E-Bikes to enhance student safety and provide clear guidance for students who choose to self-commute to and from school. This policy will be effective starting in the 2026-27 school year.
