Upcoming Events

As a friendly reminder, the annual Pacific Airshow in Huntington Beach is September 29 through October 1. You may hear loud flight activity throughout our community as they practice for the air show this week. This is an annual event with thousands of people expected to attend this weekend.

The Estancia PTSA's annual Reflections contest has been extended to October 2!  Entry forms can be picked up in the EHS Library.  Students may submit an entry in any of the six art areas - dance choreography, film, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.  This year's Reflections theme is "I am hopeful because...".  For more information about the Reflections contest, please view a video about the contest and the entry form posted on Schoology. 

Our Homecoming spirit day themes are the following: Wednesday, October 4 - Dress like your favorite ringleader (teacher), Thursday, October 5 - “Can’t be tamed” (bring your favorite stuffed animal to school), and Friday, October 6 - “Welcome to the Circus (wear circus attire - ringleader, clowns, animals).

Coffee & Conversation with the Principal will be on Friday, October 6 at 9 a.m. on Zoom. Coffee & Conversation with the Principal is an informal opportunity for parents/guardians to engage in dialogue with school administrators.  The Zoom meeting ID is 968 4705 8035.  Spanish interpretation will be available

The Fall Pep Assembly will be held on Friday, October 6.  Estancia will be on a special assembly bell schedule that day. The bell schedule will be as follows:

Estancia High School’s Homecoming Football Game will be on Friday, October 6 at 7 p.m. in Jim Scott Stadium.  All EHS students with a school ID card can attend the game for free as part of the school’s ASB for All program.  Come cheer on the Varsity Football team and see who is crowned as Homecoming Royalty. 

Estancia High School’s Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, October 7 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the EHS Commons.  Prices go up to $35 per person October 2-6.  Estancia students are allowed to bring a pre-approved guest under the age of 21 to the dance.  Dance contracts and guest passes will be available through the Student Store.

Fall Club Rush will be held on Tuesday, October 10 during lunch in the Main Gym.  Students are invited to visit information tables set up by the clubs that have formed on our campus including Best Buddies, the Acts of Random Kindness Club, Key Club, Leos Club, HOSA, Art Club, and Pathway Pals.  A club directory will be shared in October which will include the purpose of the club and when and where the club meets.  

Newport Mesa Unified School District invites families to provide input about the future of our school and district facilities. A meeting will be hosted on Wednesday, October 11 from 6-7:30 pm in Estancia High School Room 207 for our zone. Spanish interpretation will be available. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

There will be an English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting on Thursday, October 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 207.

The first quarter of the 2023-2024 school year will end on Friday, October 13.  The second quarter of the school year will begin on Monday, October 16. 

California Shakeout Drill will be on Thursday, October 19 during 3rd period.  Students across the state of California will participate in an earthquake and evacuation drill.  Estancia Tutorial-Advisory Program classes (Eagle Advisory, Eagle Tutorial, Eagle Study, and Eagle Activity) will not be meeting that day.  Students are to report directly to Period 3 after break.

Important Information

Student Drop-Off & Pick Up: Parents/Guardians who drop off and pick up their student from school should expect congestion and plan accordingly.  Please avoid making illegal u-turns on Placentia Avenue and dropping your students off on Placentia Avenue. Please see the attached flyers for images of the parking lot designations and visit the Construction Projects Webpage for additional information regarding the construction of the theater. 

Tardy = Detention: Students who arrive late to school in the morning or arrive late to any class must report to the Attendance Office windows to check in and get a tardy slip.  Anyone who is tardy will be required to serve detention after school that day for 25 minutes.  Campus Safety and school administrators will be picking up students for detention.  Students must serve detention the day it is issued.  

Parking Permits:  Students need a parking permit to park on campus.  Click here to apply for a parking permit.  Please note that a copy of the student’s driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance is required for a parking permit to be issued.  Students can only park in the student parking lot. Please see the attached map for the new student parking lot location. The speed limit in all parking lots on campus is 10 mph.

Parking On Campus: Please note that all vehicles should be in a designated stall when parked on the Estancia campus. Parking elsewhere can create unsafe conditions for pedestrians and may result in a parking ticket or your automobile being towed. We will focus particularly on the areas near the Estancia pool, varsity softball field, and outdoor basketball area (see map below). Kindly keep everyone safe and avoid driving through or parking in this space.

Off-Campus Lunch:  Students in Grades 11 and 12 are allowed to leave campus for lunch with the permission of a parent/guardian.  The off-campus lunch privilege is valid as long as the student's attendance, grades, and citizenship marks are satisfactory. Students who fail to meet these expectations may have their pass revoked. It is expected that students with off-campus lunch pass permission will report promptly to class immediately following lunch, follow the bell schedule of the day, and comply with all applicable school and NMUSD rules.  Parents/Guardians who would like to give permission for their 11th or 12th grade student to leave campus at lunch need to complete and sign a form.  

Student Meals:  Free breakfast and lunch is provided to all students.  

Senior Portraits:  Seniors who did not take a senior portrait over the summer and would like to be included in the yearbook could contact Lauren Studios at www.laurenstudios.photos or 866-696-8142 to schedule an appointment.  The school does not schedule appointments for senior portraits. 

Schoology: Newport-Mesa Unified School District utilizes Schoology as our grading platform.  Student accounts were created automatically based on their class schedule. Parent accounts, if your contact and portal account information match, are created automatically using the parent contact email address in Aeries. Click on the links below for resources for parents/guardians regarding Schoology.

Parent Portal: Families can access the Aeries Parent Portal throughout the year to update contact information, view student progress reports, report cards and student state tests reports.  If families have not completed the Mandatory Online Registration please login to the Aeries Parent Portal. Please follow directions to set up your Aeries Parent Portal account, if you do not already have one.  Elementary schools use this for registration, so if you already have one set up, you can add additional students to the same account.  We have also created a screencast to view how to set up an Aeries Parent Portal.  Please note that parents will need an email address to create an account. You can create an email address with any provider, click here for instructions to create a Gmail email. 

SchooLinks: The college and career readiness platform, SchooLinks, helps students discover their interests and strengths, explore colleges and careers, and create an individualized career and academic plan that best reflects their post-secondary goals.  SchooLinks is available to students in 7-12 grade and their parents. Students will login to SchooLinks by clicking on the SchooLinks logo on their ClassLink Launchpad. Reminder: No food deliveries or parent drop-offs are allowed. Please make sure students come to school ready and with all the materials, instruments, cell phones, or water they may need throughout the day. Campus staff will not accept any items to be held at the front office. 

OCTA Youth Bus Pass:  The Youth Ride Free program has been extended by OCTA. The OCTA has issued new purple passes that will be good through September 2024. The orange bus passes are still valid until September 30, 2023 To request a pass, please complete a Parental Request Form (see attachment or click here) and provide the completed form to the main office to receive the free pass.

SOY:  Save our Youth (SOY) is open Monday-Thursday from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm and Friday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Students can register online or in person. Sign up for music, art, dance, soccer and fitness classes and receive tutoring and college application assistance at the SOY Center.  See the attached flyer for more information or visit the SOY website at www.save-our-youth.org.
